This week, I started watching Dragon Ball, the 1986 anime, with my two children.

Goku, a little boy with superhuman strength who was raised in the wilderness by his grandpa, teams up with Bulma, a teenage girl from the city, to find all seven Dragon Balls and summon Shenron, a wish-granting dragon.

Goku joins for the adventure. Bulma wants to wish for a boyfriend, and Emperor Pilaf, the villain, wants to use his wish to rule the world.

Seeing what each character wanted to wish for and how the dragon could make it happen reminded me of AI.

With AI, it already feels like we’ve summoned the Eternal Dragon, capable of granting almost any wish. Except that we don’t have to stop at one.

Everyone has access to this 24/7 wish-granting dragon, but it feels like most people aren’t making any wishes at all. And those of us who are, myself included, probably aren’t wishing big enough.

If you could summon a dragon that could grant you any wish, what would you wish for? And what’s stopping you from using AI to work toward it now?
